Each planet has a specific number of “Fields”, or spaces where buildings can be constructed; the larger the planet, the more fields it contains. Each level of each building occupies one field. A planet is “full” when there are no more empty fields on which to build. For an overview of what to build in the beginning, see the Quick Start Guide (tap the “i” button on the Menu Bar to open the Support Information screen).

Chapter 2 - Defenses

Defenses are structures built to protect your planet during Combat. As they’re attached to the surface of the planet (or moon), defensive structures are not mobile or removable by fleets, so you can’t use them to raid.

There are three types of defensive units: Turrets, Shield Domes, and Missiles.

Turrets are cannons which fire projectiles, lasers or other types of energy discharges to shoot at attacking ships. They usually have low armor and shielding, though some have higher structural integrity than others.

Chapter 3 - Technologies (Research)

The collective name for the group of technologies which are required for construction of buildings, ships and defenses is Research. New technologies are researched in a planet’s Research Lab. Each technology has certain prerequisites - a certain level of Research Lab and, possibly, one or more other technologies. Thereafter the only requirement is the cost (availability of resources). The resource cost to research each level of a given technology is twice that of the previous level [excluding Astrophysics, which is 1.75x with the result being rounded to the nearest multiple of 100, and Graviton Technology, for which the energy requirement triples with each level].

Chapter 4 - Fleets

A Fleet is a group of ships carrying out a single mission together as a single unit. A fleet’s size can be as small as one ship and is limited only by ships available and amount of deuterium (fuel). Fleets are one of the essential tools of the game and are used to transfer/transport resources from one planet to another, or to attack another planet.

Ships, Missions and Times

A fleet can have as many ships as the player wants: there is no limit either for the number of ships or number of types of ships a fleet can have. However, every ship consumes fuel, and so the higher the number of ships, the higher the fuel consumption. The total resource-carrying capacity of the fleet is determined by the sum of the cargo capacity of each ship in the fleet minus the fuel it needs.

Chapter 5 - Forums, Chat and Messages

There are multiple types of in-game communications:

Forum posts, World and Alliance Chat, and the Buddy List - from the Main Menu, tap Communication, and select the appropriate tab.

Messages and Reports - to read, tap the Messages icon (looks like an envelope) on the Menu Bar.

**5.1 Forum - **A public message board available to all players. You can post a new topic or comment on an existing one. Because this is an open forum, please adhere to the game rules on language, bullying and other potentially offensive content. Inappropriate or outdated content may be removed as needed by the Game Administrators. To view individual posts, tap on a subject. Some subjects are created by Game Administrators to cover important game issues (like Official Rules), while other subjects may be created by players to discuss specific topics of interest. Unless “locked”, you may add your comments to any Forum post, or respond to comments left by others.

Chapter 6 - Alliances

Alliances of Players

These are groups of players who band together under a single banner, or “Tag” as it is called in the game (a tag is a short-hand abbreviation of an alliance name). Alliance members work together to improve their gaming experience through Trade, War, or Diplomacy.

The number of members in an alliance can be seen when you search for that alliance in Statistics, check the alliance’s information page or on the alliance overview if you’re an active member of that alliance. Members in alliances are assigned ranks with various privileges, as established by the alliance leadership.

Chapter 7 - Premium Features

7.1 Dark Matter

The currency used in the game to pay for officers, use of the resource Trader, planet moves, and other premium features that may be added in the future. These features are not required to advance in the game, and do not provide any player with an unfair advantage over another. To use any of these premium features, you must have sufficient Dark Matter.

You can buy Dark Matter as an in-app purchase by tapping Officers in the Main Menu (or the Dark Matter display on the Menu Bar) and selecting the Purchase tab. Prices will automatically load and reflect the currency of your local country or app store and may also reflect sales tax.

Chapter 8 - Strategy

8.1 - Moonsitting

Virtually no activity on a moon will trigger an activity timer, including refreshing its Overview. This is another reason moons provide a strategic advantage. Because you can’t tap a moon in the Overview or Empire screen to view it directly, you must first go to that planet in Overview (which triggers an activity timer at that location), then tap the planet’s moon to view it. Once you are viewing the moon, no further actions there will indicate activity, and after 1 hour all activity timers there will disappear (see also Buildings > Jump Gate).

Glossary of Terms

A

Abandon Colony – Permanently destroying one of your colonies, from the Planet Profile screen.
